AaD process video

Hey world, how's it going?

I thought I'd explain the aesthetic choices and endeavors for this most recent piece here. First off, I wanted to make a badass image with a wicked creature. Fair enough, right? I drew this guy a while ago but haven't really touched the poor thing since:

As you can see, I still have a lot of detail to add to the digital painting (it's very much a work in progress). Second, I wanted the viewer to be more involved with the image - I wanted drastic perspective, action, foreshortening, all that fun stuff. So I made the format require scrolling to really get a sense of how dangerous this creature is. At full size, no matter what screen resolution, I want the viewer to have to scroll up and down, as if they were looking up at the jumping defender, out at the attacker, and down at their crushed body. We'll see if it works.

Any suggestions or comments are always welcome!

Raol

"Raol, the deity of Water, is this mythical creature whose neck and head were sacrificed and replaced with an eternally-flowing waterfall. The flow never stops; if Raol stays in one place too long, the entire area is flooded and destroyed. That is why it wanders the world, feeling around blindly - mindlessly - for a parched land where its powers can help. My parents didn't mean to name me after it, but it suits me well enough, actually. I'm never in one place too long, and all I want to do is help people when they are in need. I would like to keep my head, of course! Hahaha!"

Work in progress!
