It's about that time again. Say hello to my latest personal demon:

Meet Acriphagea, the demon of torment and comprehension. This demon was drawn out of debilitating stomach/back pain, which I think I've finally conquered. Just like digestion, it consumes aspects of the world and dissolves them, breaking down every component and either using them or disposing of them.

Contrary to how gruesome it looks, Acriphagea is a necessity - being able to analyze and fully understand what you're consuming can help clarify what you're encountering in this wild world. Blocking this demon is both literal and metaphorical: gastric obstruction can wreak havoc on your entire body, just as obstructing curiosity, compassion, and consideration can ruin your perception of the universe.

Acriphagea fought me the entire way. Below is one of the iterations. There were two other designs which simply couldn't make the cut, but I'm happy with having it finally drawn out.

The next annual demon, I feel, will be a more pleasant one. We'll see. :) But right now I'm hungry! Have a great Monday, chillens.

See you at GenCon!

Dungeon Crusade - Loot!

Here's a sneak peek of loot I'm making for the highly anticipated Dungeon Crusade game, made by Rodger Deering. Look out for its release this year!

Pathfinder - monsters and mayhem!

A healthy dose of fantasy for your soul! Here's a selection of my favorite published artworks in the Pathfinder series this past year. I guess I should show them off eh? Look but don't touch (they bite):

^ this guy is my personal favorite, as I got to utilize a bunch of my own fungus photography as reference

There's more where that came from, but you'll have to peek inside the Pathfinder books to find them! Also, keep an eye open for a horde of demons being published this fall...

Monte Cook games!

Recently, many of the artworks I've made have been published or made known- so this is the first of several updates. For today, we have a selection of monsters I've made with Bear Weiter of Monte Cook Games, for the Cypher System's Expanded Worlds and the Numenera Bestiary 2.

Dread Draw - Illustrations

Dread Draw (a game by Upper Deck) is being released this year! Be sure to check it out at GenCon Indy. Here are some of the illustrations I made for it :)

It was a great pleasure to work on this surrealistic horror genre- this subject matter fuels me. Hopefully I can show off more work for other projects soon. Stay tuned, chillens.

Pokemon Starships

In order to challenge myself, I'm doing a series of starships inspired by my favorite Pokemon (one of each type - water, fire, etc.) So far, I've done 8!

They take a while to make, because as it turns out.. this is tougher than I thought. Pokemon are very organic creatures, and my favorites all tend toward simpler, more animalistic designs; definitely un-spaceship-like. Finding the happy middle ground between Pokemon and spaceship is something I'm aiming to achieve.

Every iconic space ship in media, from the Enterprise to the Millennium Falcon, has elegant design cohesion (whether they're very realistic or not). I want to avoid weak designs, such as random blocks with no sense of purpose, or weird shapes that look cool but ultimately do nothing for the ship itself.

With that in mind, I'm using this challenge as a way to improve. Hopefully it works. If I can learn just one thing, it'll be worth it in the end. Til then, enjoy.

To be continued...
